Ep. 19: Phinees Robert, a Walking Celebration of Life, Music, & Community
Phinees Robert, professionally known as “Phinestro,” is a film composer and music producer living in Lynchburg, VA, where he is currently an Artist Resident at the Academy Center of the Arts.
Originally from Brooklyn, NY, Phinees’ compositions have been featured in major ad campaigns for Nike, Aeropostale, and Buxom Cosmetics, as well as TV shows such as Keeping Up With The Kardashians. Phinees also co-produced the Billboard #1 World Music song “Talk to Me” for the K-pop group Red Velvet.
His collaboration with Marvel and Sony Pictures, particularly creating music for the Spider-Man 2 DVD PSA to support Worldwide Orphans, is a career highlight that aligns his musical talents with his dedication to non-profit efforts for Haiti.
But wait! There’s so much more! He is also the co-founder and visionary behind Selah Vie, a Lynchburg community of creatives that hosts inclusive, kid-friendly open mic events at White Hart Cafe in the heart of downtown. Phinees also teaches music production and songwriting at Music is Forever Studios, part of Amplify Music with Iron Lives. And the list goes on…
But the biggest compliment I can give his gem of a human is that he gives so much to the community with such ease and grace. You’d never know he has so many accomplishments to his name because he focuses on elevating you and those he’s connected with.
Enjoy this wide-ranging conversation about life, music, career, community, and following your heart and soul.
