Ep. 38 Leidra McQueen, Executive Director of Lynchburg Beacon of Hope
My guest today is Leidra McQueen. Not only does she have one of the coolest names, but she also heads up one of the coolest organizations: Lynchburg Beacon of Hope. This non-profit has been empowering young dreamers and seekers since 2011, preparing them for the big stage, both literally and figuratively.
Beacon’s mission is to “inspire Lynchburg’s youth to pursue post-secondary education or training, invest in their potential, and equip them to become contributing individuals to the betterment of our community.”
Um… hi… I am so in love with this group and with Leidra. How could you not be?
I recently attended their annual event, HOPEx, and I was lit up! Think TED talks meets Moth Storytelling. For 2 hours, I was spellbound, listening to inspiring stories from adults and young adults alike. Amy and I truly floated out of there and could not stop talking about what a transformational event it was.
And when I sat down to record my conversation with Leidra, all I could think of were the words “effortless” and “grace.” Because when you are fully invested in a mission like Beacon’s, you access stores of energy and power that are well beyond what you can possibly imagine.
